Vive la France

When I lived in England, once a month friends and I would head to the coast and pick up the ferry or hovercraft to France for long weekends away; Calais, St Omer, Rouen, Dunkirk, Boulogne or Le Touquet with its mile long white sandy beach and beyond. On other occasions, we would fly to Paris or Cannes in the South of France for a well earned week long break. We made lots of friends over the years and my dream has been to own a home there one day.

I love the rolling hills peppered with beautiful lush trees

the stunning centuries old houses

wonderful markets selling fresh local produce

watching the world go by with friends over a cup of coffee

Dining al fresco at one of many first class chateaux

I have loved and enjoyed each and every place I've visited in this wonderful country so for those of you who are already living the dream, how do you choose a location?

Just below is a little box where I would be thrilled to receive your comments and/or advice.
Merci beaucoup!

  1. I loved beautiful Eze and the journey there from Nice. It's the only destination I have been to a number of times – I usually only visit a place once, but make an exception for the South of France.

  2. I've been to Nice many times and Monaco but never to Eze which I know is breathtaking... Bobby and I shall venture there as soon as we are able! Wont be able to buy property there though... C'est la vie...

  3. Hi jo!
I'd love to spend a season in the English countryside and make forays just as you describe. It would be so hard to choose a place to live abroad on a permanent basis. I love too many places! Thanks so much for letting me know you came by!

  4. Hi Jacqueline
I thought it would be easy to decide on somewhere permanent but it's proving difficult. I love all the place I've visited but only a few speak to me... Watch this space!
I take a peek at your blog regularly but don't always leave a comment... sorry, will do better. Many thanks for stopping by.
